How to achieve privacy in these times.

Privacy is a thing of the past.  Some wintry evenings, we all can brood about all that was lost.  The reality is that privacy can be yours only if you are willing to be extremely boring.  No one wants to know about you.
To expect governments to not open your letters (the decent thing to do as taught in most homes) will simply not work.  They say all is fair in love and war but  missed the point about power.  Its not guns any more but your spying capabilities that give you an edge over other countries.  Though NSA is a lot in the news, China is way ahead in the spying game. It is well known that China spied on Chinese employees in the US for decades.  I for one got rid of the whimsical desire for privacy and am more enamoured by the power of spying.

Time to discuss Government spying

Governments all over the globe are spying on citizens. It is time that
citizens discuss how much privacy they really have.  Every one needs some
time off. Gagging every thinking mind in the globe is not a strategy that is going
to work in the long run.

The new pope loves austerity

The last Pope was plagued with news about child molestations. Now the new Pope is full of
communists ideas. I miss John Paul. No wonder people decided to make him a saint. He was
awfully sensible.

The dilemma of the Arab Spring

Cannot ignore the happenings in the Islamic world. The middle east people
have demonstrated time and again that they can throw out tyrants from their high
seats. A lot better than people in other parts of the world. The Arab spring destroyed
many bad leaders but has not sustained enough momentum  to create new dynamic
leaders.

Good bye Morsi

Morsi is out. Hopefully, Egypt will bring in someone young and dynamic.
You can do it Egypt.  A leader  should inspire and Morsi surely did not.
I wonder how he came to power in the first place.

EU's mock anger about US surveillance

We have read spy vs spy comics and now we see some real spying played out in the media. The burning question now is, will angry EU offer asylum to Snowden? Or Assange? We think not.

Ecuador - a refuge for the whistle blowers?

Ecuador is emerging as the new asylum for famous people. From Julian Assange to Edward Snowden, Ecuador seems to be the chosen place. I wonder why. Snowden landed in Hong Kong to blow his whistle. If Ecuador proves to be what Assange believes, the next time, whistle blowers will land in Ecuador for doing their job. This indeed is an interesting development. Ecuador a small country with practically no army, and has nothing in their cards against powers that be, need to protect these huge personalities. Seriously, who can protect these people who are working for the freedom of the people? I think everyone is waiting for the day when American people will wake up and say enough is enough. Till then, lets see what Ecuador can do.

Free speech and democracy

The elected governments of democracies are afraid of free speech and that seems like a joke. Who cares? Provide some more stupid TV shows to keep minds occupied. People who like free speech will keep saying what they want no matter who gags them. But there are few listeners.

Edward snowden makes only a ripple

Everyone knows big brother is watching. So Edward is telling us nothing new. But whats new is the feeling of not wanting to live in such a world any more and the desire to be free and a return of beautiful privacy. Enough is enough, give us back our lives seems to be the mood prevailing these days. I am glad its finally happening.

The fluctuating fortunes of women in the Islamic world

Saudi Arabia will allow girls to play sports in private schools and this becomes international news. A new king or a new spiritual leader will allow some liberties to women for a short time. The rules change at whim because women have no say in their destiny or desires. The first target of fundamentalists is women. For example, the republicans of America have messed with women's rights in the last decade. The voice of reason - in other words, the voice of women needs to be shut before indulging in stupidity. Sorry, Saudi Arabia - too little and too late is the verdict about this bit of news.

A space to live for the cosmopolitan

The world is becoming so radical that the cosmopolitan will have no place to live. In an era of extreme ideologies, rude behavior, and violence, survival depends in grouping. Damn, where is the cosmopolitan group I want to join?

Tibet is a monastery not a country

Tibet is a monastery with a unique style of living. Up high in the mountains in the harsh climates a group of people have found peace. Every one must watch the documentary "The salt men of Tibet" so that they may say, let Tibet be. We cannot live like that but we will not disturb people who can. Dalai Lama must return to Tibet and the place must thrive again with spirituality.

Chavez and his shocking statements

Chavez is no more. Chavez is among the last sentinels of a bygone era where verbose attacks were enough to look brave. He restored Latin American pride. RIP Chavez. Hope you are in a land that will never smell of Sulphur.

The dilemma of Bradley Manning

What should Bradley Manning do? In times of war, when you see something wrong, soldiers leak information to press, or wikiLeaks. They do this because they see that their leaders who they would have reported the wrongs are involved. Soldiers who leak information to the outside world, do a lot for humanity, but then retire to a lonely life loathed by countrymen and treated as traitors. But Bradley Manning is treated unnecessarily harsh and I wonder why. Loath him all you want but to jail him may not be legal. How can you punish someone for doing something right?

Good bye Pope Benedict

The Catholic church is stagnating. Its in the news for all wrong reasons. Christianity is going out of flavor. Love and forgiveness and a wonderful world with strong family ties ....... seem a thing of the past, at least in the Christian world. The church had no competition in a long time. The only other organized religion - Islam - with its many subjugating rules for women stayed behind the church. But now with Hinduism by being more organized and modernized is giving Christianity a run for its money. Many Hindu spiritual leaders work spirituality around science evoking curiosity and interest like never before. Dynamism is a necessary tool for survival even for spirituality. May be Pope Benedict will now meditate and get really spiritual, like what priests must really do.

Return Dalai Lama to Tibet

China must leave Tibet alone. Tibetans have achieved nirvana. One of the most beautiful and peaceful cultures of the world. The Dalai Lama is a highly respected spiritual leader looked up to by people like Voltaire. He knows his business. Return Dalai Lama and peace to Tibet. God bless.

Good news for Australian Politics - Assange contests elections

Clearly, if Assange enters Australian politics there will be a shift in world power. This is indeed good news. Will be watching Australia with interest in the coming months. Brilliant move by Assange.

Free Yulia Tymoshenko

Middle of January of a new year, its time someone realized that the ex Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko is in jail for a couple of years now. It is a shame that, a once rich and powerful woman can be treated thus, and the world will only watch. It is important that Yulia Tymoshenko be freed and be allowed to fight elections again. Give Women some reason to believe in their capabilities.
