Free speech and democracy
The elected governments of democracies are afraid of free speech and that seems like a joke. Who cares? Provide some more stupid TV shows to keep minds occupied. People who like free speech will keep saying what they want no matter who gags them. But there are few listeners.

Edward snowden makes only a ripple
Everyone knows big brother is watching. So Edward is telling us nothing new. But whats new is the feeling of not wanting to live in such a world any more and the desire to be free and a return of beautiful privacy. Enough is enough, give us back our lives seems to be the mood prevailing these days. I am glad its finally happening.

The fluctuating fortunes of women in the Islamic world
Saudi Arabia will allow girls to play sports in private schools and this becomes international news. A new king or a new spiritual leader will allow some liberties to women for a short time. The rules change at whim because women have no say in their destiny or desires. The first target of fundamentalists is women. For example, the republicans of America have messed with women's rights in the last decade. The voice of reason - in other words, the voice of women needs to be shut before indulging in stupidity. Sorry, Saudi Arabia - too little and too late is the verdict about this bit of news.

A space to live for the cosmopolitan
The world is becoming so radical that the cosmopolitan will have no place to live. In an era of extreme ideologies, rude behavior, and violence, survival depends in grouping. Damn, where is the cosmopolitan group I want to join?

Tibet is a monastery not a country
Tibet is a monastery with a unique style of living. Up high in the mountains in the harsh climates a group of people have found peace. Every one must watch the documentary "The salt men of Tibet" so that they may say, let Tibet be. We cannot live like that but we will not disturb people who can. Dalai Lama must return to Tibet and the place must thrive again with spirituality.

Chavez and his shocking statements
Chavez is no more. Chavez is among the last sentinels of a bygone era where verbose attacks were enough to look brave. He restored Latin American pride. RIP Chavez. Hope you are in a land that will never smell of Sulphur.

The dilemma of Bradley Manning
What should Bradley Manning do? In times of war, when you see something wrong, soldiers leak information to press, or wikiLeaks. They do this because they see that their leaders who they would have reported the wrongs are involved. Soldiers who leak information to the outside world, do a lot for humanity, but then retire to a lonely life loathed by countrymen and treated as traitors. But Bradley Manning is treated unnecessarily harsh and I wonder why. Loath him all you want but to jail him may not be legal. How can you punish someone for doing something right?
